Groupon is one stop shopping!

Groupon GoodsI love shopping online. Bringing 3 kids anywhere is a chore. Getting them in the car…getting them out of the car…making sure they don’t break anything in the store…purchasing just what I need, not what they bug me to buy…getting them back into the car…and driving home. Yeah, it’s a process! If I can spare myself trips to stores or malls, I do! I would rather spend time doing fun stuff with my girls…maybe when they are older they will like shopping with me! But for now, online it is! I recently discovered Groupon Goods. I am sure that you already use Groupon for fun activities like Escape the Room or dinner discounts. But, did you know that Groupon has so much more!?

I don’t know about you, but I find it hard to buy things for myself. The girls…please…I don’t bat an eye. If they need something, I am all over getting it for them. Me, I wear hand me down clothes from friends and paint my own toes! But now, Groupon makes it so easy and inexpensive to purchase things for me! I recently got a Diffuser for my room. I have heard so many good things about essential oils, but I didn’t want to pay a fortune to try them out. Groupon Goods had a bunch of nice ones for really great prices. So, I bought one! And I love it! I am going to get another one for my office at work!

Groupon GoodsGroupon goods has things for pets, men, women, and kids! I got Nicki this fun shirt for her last day of school last year! She loved it…and so did everyone else! It made us chuckle. Check Groupon Goods out! Seriously, you will be pleasantly surprised!! Click here to check out all the awesome deals you could be getting!

Dear Kindergarten Parent

First Time Kindergarten Parent Your oldest child is going to Kindergarten. How do you feel about that? When asking around, I get a variety of answers. Some say they are sad. Others say they are anxious. And some say they are excited. I was the later, I was super excited for Nicki last year. Okay, so I was a little sad and a little nervous too! Now that my eldest is heading into first grade, I look back at last year and realized I learned a lot her first year of school.

They will be ok
Your child will be ok. And however they act at home, they will most likely act different in school. Children who are off the wall crazy at home, are sometimes the children found sitting quietly in school. And if they do act the same at school that they do at home, don’t worry about it…the teacher can handle it. And if she can’t, she will reach out to you…don’t get upset when she does…she is just looking for some help.

crayons-1445053_1920Yours is not the first
Your child is not the first child to wet their pants, or color on themselves, or speak out of turn. It’s Kindergarten, they are all learning…they are all growing…it takes time. I know a few Kindergarten teachers and they all tell me the same thing..the first 2 months are spent getting all of the kids used to school and the rules…and not peeing their pants! Apparently, that’s a big one!

He/She will make friends
I work in a school, I see how mean kids can be! My biggest fear for Nicki was that she would be made fun of….or that she wouldn’t make friends. My fears were quickly put to rest when several little 5 year olds came running up to me after school the first few days asking to come over and play. Your kid will make friends. And they will fight with their friends…and kids will say mean things to them…it happens. It’s real life…well kind of real life…but you get it.

Advice for Kindergarten parentsNo one starves
A friend said her son only eats certain things…he is super picky. “So, pack what he likes” I told her. If your kid likes bagels, hummus, and grapes…then pack it. Seriously, one of my friends packs hummus and a spoon for her son. That is what he likes…so that is what he gets! Don’t get caught up in the bento box lunch craze…it’s food…just give the kids what they like. Want some of my lunch packing tips? Click here!

Read everything
You will get overwhelmed with all the paper work that comes home…read it all! Put important things on the calendar. And don’t wait until the last minute to fill stuff out. The days will fly by and you will be driving to work and realize you forgot to give your kid the picture form and money! As soon as stuff comes in, I handle it, and send it back OR hang it up to remind me!

Don’t show your nerves
You don’t want your child to be nervous or scared, so don’t show them that you are! Big smiles…hide the tears…and just cry in the car like the rest of us! Make the first good bye a quick one…this will help with the tears! And most important, be excited for your child!! They are starting a new chapter in their life. You got them to this point…be proud of yourself! Each year is a new opportunity to learn and grow! Deep breath….you got this!

How to use Pokemon Go for good If you haven’t heard of Pokemon Go…you have either been in a coma for the past few months OR you live in a cave with no access to the outside world. Pokemon Go is taking the world by storm and I love it. A stupid game for 20’something year olds? I think not. Pokemon Go is a great game for the whole family to play…which is why you need it, now! Today will be better.

Today will be betterI don’t know any mom that goes to bed at night thinking “wow, everything today went perfect…just like yesterday! I did everything right and my kids were perfect too!” If you are out there, please email me…we need to talk. For the rest of us, the struggle is real. And I am not talking about trying to get melted marshmallows out of the car seat or figuring out what to make for dinner. I am talking about every day….second guessing, comparing, doubting, and feeling bad about…well almost everything. But, today…today will be better. (more…)

How to get to the pool…with 3 kids!

Surviving the Summer with Kids

Survive the summer The days are long, the air is warm, and the fridge is bare…yup, it’s summer! I make a list of all the places and things we will do…and then poof, just like that the summer is over. I am learning to juggle…working mommy goes back to school!

Being a working mom and going back to schoolI am doing it…and I am doing the best I can! Juggling working full time and going back to school was tough before I had kids. Once I had my first daughter, I had to put my studies on a time out. That time out lasted longer then I would have liked, but I am back at it! A lot has changed in the past 5 years as it relates to working professionals getting their masters. Now, there are so many online options. This is great for working moms…heck this is great for everyone! Here is how I am juggling it all…did I mention I don’t know how to juggle! (more…)

Are you ready to be a mommy?

are-you-ready-to-be-a-mommyA friend recently got married and the topic of kids came up. “You going to have any kids?” I asked as my little one was climbing all over me…meanwhile I was balancing my wine glass…never spilled a drop! “I think so.” She replied. That’s not good, I thought, you can’t think you want kids…you have to KNOW. You need to be all in if you are thinking about having kids. Having kids is not like picking out a new pair of shoes. If they start annoying you, you can’t put them back in their box and put them in your closet….although that sounds tempting! So how do you know when you are ready to have kids? (more…)
